Better WP Security Crosses 1,000,000 Downloads

Better WP SecurityI’m honored to report that this morning the Better WP Security WordPress plugin crossed 1,000,000 downloads.

Yes, I’ve known it would hit this milestone for a little while now but I still can’t really believe it. It wasn’t that long ago when I thought it would be great if it had one other download and not even three years later it has grown to one of the biggest plugins in the plugin repository.

Thank you to everyone who has downloaded and contributed to this plugin. To the translators, bug testers, bloggers and everyone else who helped bring this plugin to the front of the WordPress security space.

As the first million downloads have now come and gone it is time to start looking forward to the next million and beyond.

I am still working hard on Better WP Security 4.0 and although it won’t be released as early as I would like it will be out before the end of the year. With it will come improvements to the speed and reliability of all the features already there along with a completely new framework that will allow me to offer premium features as well more free features to all of its users.

It’s been an awesome ride so far and as Better WP Security’s 3rd year in the repository comes to a close all I can say is…

…It has only just begun.

Awesome Chris and thanks for all the good work you did on this plugin…I am using it in numerous sites like akduttahotels, and our own sites as well as client sites….we had a headache earlier to prevent sites from hacking but you have really made a cool plugin….

Wish you all the best and hope this plugin crosses 5 million sooner…

Is there something I’m doing wrong when I enter an IP into the “ban” list? I keep seeing the same IPs getting lockouts, even after they’ve been banned.
