Better WP Security 3.3

Better WP SecurityThe Better WP Security WordPress plugin has been updated to version 3.3 which contains a couple of new features including a rather extensive ban list by Jim of HackRepair.com and a few more bugfixes. With any luck this should finally squelch the remaining users who were finding empty “Deny from” lines in their .htaccess files preventing their site from loading. The catch is, in over 30 of my own sites I have yet to be able to reproduce the bug myself. If you still encounter it anywhere PLEASE let me know.

  1. Chris,

I want to install Better WP Security. I am presently building a new website from scratch, but it’s a steep learning curve because I’ve never done it before and I’m 71. So I have not been brought up in the online world. I’m using the Weaver II theme.

Originally, before I became aware of your plugin, I installed BackWPup. This plugin generates two backups: a database backup and a files backup. These two backups are sent to a Gmail address that I set up for the purpose. This email address is different to the email contact address in WordPress>Dashboard>Settings.

I note from you instructional installation video that I must deactivate this plugin. My question is, with your recent upgrade to Better WP Security, could I still use the dedicated Gmail address to receive the backup notifications generated by Better WP Security?

I am (probably needlessly, but novices can jump at shadows) worried about complicating my email inbox with a host of email reports. Is this a valid concern?

    sincerely,

    Graham

I use your 3.3 plugin for our corporate WordPress multi-site. For months we have had issues with the primary site going down while all the sub sites are fine. The most recent time I noticed that I was not able to login to the backed as myself. So I tried another account that let me login but when I went to change from user dashboard to Network Admin dashboard when the login came up it wouldn’t let me login. I was able to reset the password and eventually get in but it seems to be happening frequently now. I love the plugin but I am about to the point of disabling it because it keeps taking down our primary site. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also just tried 3.4.6 to see if the issues have been fixed and it looks like the issue still exists in 3.4.6
